EastWest Innovations Uganda Limited (EWI) began its operations in Uganda since 2001 with the purpose of developing the Uganda Honey trade as a viable supplement income for the Ugandan farmers, with sustainable beekeeping as its modus operandi.
Today, EWI is a recognized source for providing pure, unadulterated honey. Since mid-2005, every batch of honey harvested, samples were sent to University of Hohenheim for Mellisopalynology and has met the rigorous European Honey legislation and the Commission’s Food Safety standard. Over the years we have maintained this standards through our continuous effort to educate and training of our local beekeepers.
With emphasis on quality honey exporting to EU, Switzerland, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, EWI attained the prestigious “President’s Export Award” in 2006.

From origin to consumer, EWI monitors its entire processing to ensure that YOU get honey in its purest.
Emphasis is on training beekeepers on handling bee to acquire good honey, not so much on having expensive modern equipments.
Honey refined in stainless steel tanks after going through simple honey pressing.

My name Hilda Segobaetso from Botswana. I would like to inquire if the institution also train Officers. The Ministry of Agriculture here in Botswana is interested in training Officers on Harvesting, processing, value addition and marketing of bee products. Dear Lesster,
I am managing a project in SW Rwanda that works with ~1,400 bee-keepers. We are in the process of establishing a storage/processing and sales centre and we need key equipment for filtration, storage, weighing, purity verification, candle manufacture etc etc.
Can you advise on any regional sources for this equipment? We have prices from the Rwandan Association for Development, but their prices are terribly high it seems. Should we order from Europe or is there anywhere else in Uganda or Kenya?
Secondly, we are very interested in becoming part of your Rwanda programme. Perhaps you can send us your personal email address so that we can discuss this further?

I am a bee farmer in Pader district, northern Uganda. To date I have not benefited from my apiary farm set two years ago. I have 05 langstroth, 20 KTBs and 10 local hives. May I know of your training schedules and costs, duration. I am in need of a training of your type to be able to benefit and be a good example to others. my name is martin, I love bees and have been working with bees for Nealy 10 years. in case you require a trainer to help in your organization then i would be available. I have trained and worked in south a Africa with very successful farmers. I require very little supervision in my work. I produce beekeeping equipment of very good standards. I have large experiece in appiary siting, hive and site management, honey harvesting and production. im impessed at what you are doing. Hi Lesster , I would like to say that I enjoyed your bee keeping course very much .The week spent with you has changed the way I work WITH bees not against them which is what I have been doing in the past .I was amazed at how you can work with African bees using bare hands and not wearing head gear without being attacked and as we all know these bees have a lot of attitude . In the past when I have been working AGAINST them it was full on war as soon as the hive was opened and after it was closed.
Also like the fact that the course was keep simple easy to understand and loads of information about bees and honey .When I say simple I mean that after reading loads about bee keeping it can sound complicated also their is plenty of incorrect information out their ,which during the course has been explained and demonstrated .
It is good to have loads of hands on learning with the bees and not all class room teaching .
The classes are a good size . We had a good group which made it fun as well .
Once again thank you . I also highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning or working with bees .The learning curve does not have to be painfull .

Hi, am very happy to know about this site, where is the beekeeping school? Location, would really want to do that course, have an apiary project at home but need more knowledge
We are interested in starting a bee keeping project in Teso, in north eastern Uganda, and wondered whether you would be willing to collaborate in any way with us, please?
We are building a new, radically different (for Uganda, that is) school, called Shalom School, for the brightest and most deprived children of Teso, many of whom are orphans or live in camps.
Since some of our commitments are to limit class sizes to 40 (instead of the usual 80-200) and to pay teachers full salaries every month, we realise we cannot sustain the school on income from school fees alone.
We are therefore planning to set up various income-generating projects which will not only provide extra income with which to run the school, but will also provide income for the local community and opportunities to train adults and young people in Teso in new methods.
The site of the school is rural, very close to a swamp and lake. It therefore seems an ideal location for bee keeping.
However, none of us connected with Shalom School has any knowledge or experience of bee keeping and are therefore looking not only for technical support, advice and training, but also help with funding and partners with whom we can collaborate to benefit not only the school but the wider population of Teso.
Are you able to help us in any way, please?

I am Helen from Nigeria a beekeeper, I came across your website today am highly impressed by the good work you are doing in Africa, the products are very fascinating the Lord will continue to strengthening you. For sometimes I have been in search for a place in Africa where I can be trained on how to become an effective and productive beekeeper, presently I have up to 15 colonised hives but I want to expand my apiary, learn how to rear queen so that all my hives will be colonised within shortest period and also how to produce other products from bee, like the candle and how to package my honey for international standard.
